Overall, it is an interesting app, but the creators overlooked something important that would make this much better: you should be able to combine the "Preset" backgrounds with their "Classic" sketches. Adding differnt implements, too, like pencil would also be good.

I’m a serious amateur photographer and always looking for new software to let me alter photos in fun ways, and I’ve tried several programs that make pencil sketches from photos. This is certainly one of the better ones out there. It works fast, is very easy to use, and the results are quite good. It’s done a more than acceptable job for me, and is just plain fun to play with. I should point out that I’ve had absolutely zero problems with the program crashing as some past reviewers have. Would be nice to be able to use different backgrounds than the ones provided, but that’s not a problem and perhaps something the author can do in the future. All in all, fun program to play with. Does a nice job rendering a photo into a pencil sketch type image. And it’s inexpensive.

It would have been nice if you could print straight from the app. It would also be nice to email from it as well. As an amateur to this kinda stuff its fun to play with.

Great app for the price. Ill buy the newer version, when available.

I have been playing with it for about a week now. It’s easy to work and the results can be impressive. You can import pictures, drag and drop pictures or just drag pictures directly from IPhoto.

We are very impressed with PicSketch program and created lots of unique photos.

This is a fun app, no doubt about it. But, a serious app for photo editing, I don’t think so. It is not yet quite mature to take on the big boys. However, I do recommend it as a relaxing and amusing photo app. Waiting for the next iteration!

This is the best program I’ve found for sketching a photo for a watercolor painting!

First program I’ve ever reviewed. This program does what it says, turns your pics into sketches instantly, where they can be saved as a jpg or png. It obviously works well with portriats of people and pictures of objects, but I also used it to add oomph to a black and white line drawing logo. I changed the black lines to electric blue with the color pen, saved that image, and then took it to the “moisturize” where it has a new glossiness and depth. This program is simple and fun. The images I’m creating are both imaginative and useful to me.

Does a good job, better than other apps that do the same thing! Well worth it!

I am a Designer - Interior as well as a Exterior Landscape… PicSketch gives me a great visual tool - especially if I want to color it… or offer different options in color… Thanks ever so much for making me look so talented. This is almost too FUN!!

I was hunting for an app like this and it is just what I was looking for. Simple to use, but you have to figure it out yourself. No instructions. Little confused at first, but figured it out fairly quickly. So far my only complaint is that it crashed and shut down before I could save my picture. Hopefully this won’t happen too frequently. Fingers Crossed. Worth the $.

Helps me make homey, old fashioned looking church bulletins, special event cards, and pics for slides and the church web site. Simple, easy, and with plenty of adjustable parameters. I could do the same thing in Photoshop or Gimp, but faster and easier here. Well woth the purchase.

Not at all intuitive and very difficult to learn. Just a few words as to how to achieve the desired result would be greatly appreciated!!! If, for example, you indicated how the examples were done, the user would be able to build off of that rather than wasting time trying to guess where to go next. You guys know the program, please share with those of us crazy enough to invest in the application.

Wow - Photos to ‘pencil sketches’, the E-Z way for those of us without artistic brains. This is a wonderful app to do something a bit different. It has MANY capabilities, and can even “colorize” a pencil sketch! No instructions, but if you are a mac user, 5-minutes is all you need to become quite competent. This is a great way to “Dress Up” posts, blogs, sites, and even products! GET IT - You’ll love it.

I cannot draw to save my life and have been wanting to start a project of making a mosiac chicken. I wanted an app that could turn a photo into a sketch that I could then print and use as a template for my designs. This app is perfect!! I can change the thickness of the pen to heavy which works better as a mosaic template…too many details is too difficult. The app was very easy to figure out and fun. I have printed some pictures purly black and white to use as templates and others as colorized to use later in my project as reference.

This does exactly what I wanted it to do with very little effort on my part!!

This app does just what it says it will do. Sometimes it does a great job at it and other times, not so great. I guess it depends on the photo. I used it on about 6 photos and the lighter photos came out great but the darker photos (with more color and busyness) didnt come out as well. But what it can do (especially for the price), its worth it!

Impressive! I have been looking for an app to do just this!!! Very nice!!!!!! I took some “ho-hum” color photos processed them and WOW! Great effects!

Fun and easy — can do some simple effects. Good for making a basic sketch to trace for watercolors or other painting — picks out the critical lines and you can go from there.
